A Realtime Globe

A work in progress.

The atmosphere calculations are based on Sean O’Neill’s classic, with some fragment-space tweaks, the Parallax shader for the clouds is an in-house development, as are the bump maps, rendered from NASA depth data. Uses modern GLSL / OpenGL with the new programmable GL renderer in openFrameworks 0.8.0.

Original Nasa Data: Reto Stöckli, NASA Earth Observatory Music: “Steiner im Flug” by Pantha du Prince

Runs @ 60 interactive frames / HD (1920x800) on a AMD Radeon HD 6750M GPU.

Made with openFrameworks.
